Career timeline

Aviation. Built Soar Aviation from a single aircraft to a fleet of 55, funded by customer prepayments and operating cash from the existing fleet, with no priced equity round and no syndicated debt. The business thrived under his leadership. He sold the majority of his stake, a transaction of approximately $65 million, and stepped back from any operational or directorial role. After his exit, new management made decisions that led to regulatory scrutiny and eventually to the closure of the business. During that period Khokhani held no directorship, no control and no management role.

Consumer finance. Acquired approximately one third of a consumer-finance business. Simplified the corporate structure on entry. Revenue moved from approximately $45 million to approximately $82 million during his ownership. Exited at approximately $121 million of enterprise value.

Self-storage. Owns and operates Vachi Storage in the United Arab Emirates. High margin, capital-light, predictable revenue, largely uncorrelated with the technology exposure elsewhere in the platform, where it serves a defensive role.

Epochal Corporation. Founded and runs the single-family office through which he invests today. Detail on the office and its mandate is published on the company’s own site, where the Epochal Corporation profile of Neel Khokhani is the primary reference.

Investment method

The method can be summarised in four steps drawn from his own stated positions.

  1. Underwrite like an acquirer. “I approach listed equity ownership with the discipline of a private acquirer.” Diligence runs to what a business physically owns, what its customers have contractually committed, and what replication would cost a competitor.
  2. Compute intrinsic value first, then wait. Capital moves only at a meaningful discount to a value already calculated.
  3. Prefer asset-backed compounders. “Broad index diversification, once inflation, monetary debasement, and tax are accounted for, frequently constitutes a real loss of purchasing power. Concentration in correctly-priced, asset-backed compounders is the alternative.”
  4. Hold through cycles. “The time horizon is measured in years and cycles rather than quarters.”

The AI-infrastructure thesis

Khokhani has been a long-term significant shareholder in IREN (Nasdaq: IREN) since 2022, a position established before the broad market repriced demand for AI infrastructure.

The core claim: “Power, land, and grid interconnection, rather than capital, are the binding constraints on growth.”

The published analysis covers data-centre footprint, customer development and the competitive structure of high-density compute. The practical test it implies is physical rather than financial: energised capacity as distinct from announced capacity, interconnection queue position, land with a viable grid path, and the number of years a competitor would need to reach an equivalent position.

The Epochal Collection

A private contemporary art collection sharing the platform’s name. It includes established figures such as Ed Ruscha, Richard Prince, Alex Katz, Annie Leibovitz, Tracey Emin, Sabine Moritz, Jack Pierson and Jeppe Hein, alongside a deeper mid-career and emerging bench drawn from more than 24 countries. Curatorial weighting favours contemporary figurative painting, women painters, and voices outside the New York and London market, including Indigenous Australia, sub-Saharan Africa, the Andes and East Asia. The shared name is intentional: the same long-ownership ethic applied in two mediums.
