Seasoned Logistics CEO Taking a Global Logistics Solutions Provider to New Heights
CEO MONTHLY / MAY 2025 7 The man at the helm of Parcels Mart, a global shipping company offering convenient and costeffective logistics solutions for businesses right across Africa, is Dr Joe Enobong, a transformational CEO and logistics innovator committed to both driving revenue and enhancing the sustainability of his organisation. Leveraging two decades of experience working for some of the world’s leading companies prior to becoming CEO of Parcels Mart, Joe’s unmatched skill in this field has resulted in him being named as the Most Influential CEO 2025 – Logistics & Shipping (Nigeria). Founded in 2023 by Dr Joe Enobong, Parcels Mart is distinguished in part due to a transparent pricing model, specialized shipping models, large cargo handling and the cost savings its services bring about. This reflects the personalised customer service that is then delivered to its global customer base, which currently spans in excess of 1000 paying customers in more than 2,200 cities. Having already made approximately 10,000 deliveries and with an additional 15,000+ shipments booked in; it is clear this approach is more than paying off for this ever-expanding company headquartered in Nigeria. Be it the dedicated agents on-hand to provide support with all customer shipping needs, the doorstep delivery service, or the real-time tracking capabilities made possible thanks to its integrated tracking tool, there are many reasons why these customers choose Parcels Mart. Its excellence is then continuously refined thanks to a quality team, with these divisions united under the leadership of Dr Joe Enobong, a knowledgeable professional boasting a high track record of international sales and leadership success. Joe began his professional career more than 15 years ago at Samsung Electronics, serving as one of the company’s coveted retail sales managers. From executing robust sales strategies to generating customers in new territories, Joe’s two years with the brand paved the way for the successful career in logistics that would follow shortly after. Departing Samsung on excellent terms in 2011, Joe moved to UPS as an account manager, a role that saw him contribute to the account management and business growth strategies of the organisation. During his time at UPS, Joe also won the 2012 Export Growth Accelerator of the Year Award and successfully maintained almost 300 accounts, all whilst monitoring client performance to an impeccable standard. Many of the solutions Joe designed even generated immediate return on investment for the company, in addition to playing an integral role in forming the longer-term strategy of its operations right across the Africa region. Although still incredibly impressive, these accomplishments pale in comparison to what Joe achieved during his eight years with DHL, a tenure that saw him enter the company in a sales business development role before working his way up to sales manager, with duties including managing Sub-Saharan Africa’s best sales teams. Boosting acquisition levels by more than 100% in just one year, Joe was even nominated for induction into the DHL International Hall of Fame as a result of his stellar work. Given the strength of his resume, Joe was the perfect person to take Parcels Mart to lofty new heights when it went began its search for a new CEO in 2023. In the two years since securing the role, Joe has more than lived up to his name, scaling company operations to encompass hundreds of new countries and territories, all whilst offering clients up to a 50% reduction on the prices charged by other suppliers thanks to his transparent pricing strategy. On the back of this, Joe is today immensely proud to be recognised as a thought leader in the field of logistics and supply chain management, having successfully pivoted to design and then implement more personalised logistics solutions for a smaller and more niche cross-border shipping service provider. A host of new skills have also been developed by this CEO on his journey, and he today boasts of his talents in such areas as strategic leadership, sustainability, and even the application of artificial intelligence (AI). In fact, when it comes to AI, Joe’s knowledge of this emerging technology was significantly improved through his completion of the Business of Artificial Intelligence programme at the worldrenowned London Business School. Completing the course a few months prior to AI exploding onto the mainstream with ChatGPT, Joe’s understanding of both AI and ML models is already proving invaluable in Parcels Mart’s planned expansion, as well as helping it to strategically navigate the challenges inherent in this industry. This course is just one element of Joe’s comprehensive education, which extends to include an international business programme completed at Harvard Business School, a PhD in advanced and clinical biochemistry from the University of Calabar, and both a master’s and a bachelor’s from the same institution in the same field. Although his studies do not directly align with his career, they nevertheless demonstrate Joe’s ability to focus on the task at hand and execute work to a high standard – two cornerstones of his leadership style. Beyond focus and execution, Joe strives to nurture collaboration and innovation at every turn, well aware of the importance of cultivating a working environment where every member of a team feels empowered to speak up and to act. With Parcels Mart continuing to grow – something seen through the three offices it today has in Nigeria and partnered warehouses across over 58 countries – this dual commitment becomes increasingly important as the company looks ahead. For the next 12 months, Parcels Mart is working towards the overarching vision of going well beyond deliveries, instead striving to redefine the logistics experience for its customers. It is doing this in a number of ways, including integrating some of the cutting-edge technology Joe learnt about in his AI course, doubling down on its sustainability efforts, as well as expanding its presence to reach new markets around the world. Finally, shedding more light on the next steps in his own career, Joe tells us of his plans to carry on developing and evolving, growing both personally and professionally in the process. Thus, with his path forwards set to be defined by a rigorous adherence to the guiding pillars of learning, mentorship, and community impact, Joe is seeking to not only advance his career and skills, but also to inspire others to do the same in the process. A fearless and committed leader, Dr Joe Enobong has consistently proven himself to be the right man for the job since joining international shipping solutions company Parcels Mart as its CEO in 2023. As a result of the sense of confidence that stems from having Joe at the helm, this beacon of excellence in Nigeria’s shipping and logistics scene has an incredibly bright future ahead of it. Operating out of its headquarters in the heart of London, it is the mission of Alchemy Crew Ventures to bridge the current adoption gap between ambitious, tech-based start-ups and the established leaders dominating this space. Specialising in enabling execution at the cutting edge and injecting innovation into the value chain, the company is headed up by the acclaimed executive-turnedentrepreneur Sabine VanderLinden, who has been recognised here as the Most Influential CEO 2025 – Corporate Ventures (UK). On the back of this acclaim, we had the pleasure of catching up with Sabine. Alchemy Crew Venturing: Repeatable Venture Clienting Success
CEO MONTHLY / MAY 2025 11 Feb25061 Delivering robust commercialisation blueprints for institutions operating in the insurance and financial services landscapes, Alchemy Crew sees ambitious corporations afforded access to a combination of the brightest growth ventures and tried-and-tested blueprints. The results see a new benchmark set in the field of corporate ventures – one where amplified, repeatable success is the norm and enterprises are encouraged to fully embrace venture spirit and walk a path of undiscovered opportunity. With the sector quickly tiring of the phenomena of “innovation theatre” – the name given to those initiatives which claim to be ‘innovative’ and yet have little to no impact on a business’ numbers – it is becoming increasingly important for companies like Alchemy Crew to prove they can deliver ROI and operational relevance in an ever-changing risk landscape. Sabine told us: “What makes us truly stand out is our interpretation and deployment of this venture client model, a model that facilitates and accelerates corporatestart-up engagements and sends signals out there that the corporation is ready to work with growth ventures, with these blending corporate innovation with startup acceleration to create scalable, derisked growth pathways.” Moreover, with new, emerging risks appearing on a daily basis across both the insurance and financial industries – with these potentially proving detrimental to organisations – the company has recently undergone a transformation, with its website being rebuilt from the ground up to focus on the one central, defining theme of the venture client model. Supporting the company in this mission are both its R&D and Commercialisation Labs, with these accelerating venture validation and driving adoption/tangible partnerships, respectively. In its R&D Labs, Alchemy Crew curates some of the most complex challenges and identifies opportunities for collaboration and to explore growth ventures. From here, Alchemy Crew’s Commercialisation Labs leverage a robust engagement model to streamline the business-led experiments between these corporations and growth ventures. “We also activate and amplify brands via our Alchemy Crew Media work.” With almost 30 years of experience working at the intersection of technology, insurance, and venture activation under her belt, Sabine’s entire career was leading up to her co-founding Alchemy Crew alongside Minh Tran just under five years ago. As Sabine explained: “From launching innovation labs to advising global insurers and growth ventures, as well as investing in multiple ventures during my acceleration programmes and as an LP, each chapter built towards this moment – where execution meets innovation.” Across her many duties as CEO, Sabine takes on such responsibilities as shaping strategy and leading client engagements, as well as upholding the company’s vision across the numerous avenues it is present in today. When it comes to leadership more broadly, Sabine’s thought leadershipbased philosophy is as straightforward as it is effective – to act purposefully, listen deeply, and execute boldly. Describing herself as operating with a “systems lens” – which she went on to describe as, “understanding that impact comes not from isolated pilots but from re-architecting how innovation is absorbed and scaled, giving enough time for both parties” – Sabine gives corporations and start-ups the tools they need to work together. People and culture are, after all, instrumental in the success of any business, and only by focusing on these areas can Sabine pave the way for lasting, meaningful transformations in this space. Following on from her wealth of experience and encompassing approach to her CEO role, the leadership methods employed by Sabine revolve around trust, transparency, curiosity, and a healthy dose of challenge. This differs from earlier in her career – especially when she served as the CEO of Startupbootcamp, Europe’s leading early-stage accelerator for insurance tech start-ups – when Sabine favoured more hands-on leadership tactics. “Over time, I’ve learned the power of delegation and creating environments where talent thrives. Working across borders has taught me the value of cultural nuance and the importance of shared purpose.” Given how effectively she is able to delegate and the trust she nurtures from her team at every turn, it is unsurprising that Sabine has fostered a culture of experimentation, mutual respect, and ongoing education within Alchemy Crew. Striking a balance by being collaborative and yet still commercially sharp – Sabine remains close to her team in terms of both the work they carry out and in spirit. She also makes equal space for ambition and wellbeing, ensuring her employees are supported both personally and professionally. Having also authored and co-edited The INSURTECH Book, a global bestseller providing a wealth of unique insights into the field of insurance technology, Sabine’s expertise is helping to establish Alchemy Crew as a go-to resource for those in search of unrivalled proficiency in this landscape. Over the next year or so, Alchemy Crew plans to double down on its use of Venture Client Labs, which will allow it to support the work of corporations using the most effective tech partners working in this arena today. Beyond this, plans are in place for a new insight series – “Sabine’s Spotlight” – as well as a similar offering focusing on emerging risk and resilience. Rounding out the company’s 2025 are further commitments to climate resilience solutions, adopting generative AI, and innovating across commercial lines. Discussing the next steps of her own career, Sabine said: “I’m exploring how to expand our thought leadership platform, continuing to mentor women in tech, and will possibly author a book on scaling innovation ecosystems – anchored in realworld narratives. All this requires strategic time allocation and the ability to find free mind space.” Ultimately, Sabine VanderLinden has come a long way since she began her career at Lloyd’s of London more than 25 years ago, with her impressive trajectory having proven to be an invaluable resource in Alchemy Crew carving out a name for itself as a translator and an educator – and a true facilitator of mutually beneficial collaboration. Named as the Most Influential CEO 2025 – Corporate Ventures (UK) in this campaign, it is our pleasure to bestow the well-deserved title on a future-forward CEO specialising in start-up-corporate collaboration and maximising the venture client model. Those looking to learn more about Alchemy Crew Ventures’ solutions or insurance innovation strategy can do so by following the link below, with more information about Sabine herself available through her LinkedIn, a platform on which she has amassed almost 40k followers. “Let’s stop glamourising start-ups for buzz alone. Let’s talk about real adoption, shared accountability, and building systems that enable cross-industry innovation. That’s what Alchemy Crew is about.” Contact: Sabine VanderLinden Company: Alchemy Crew Ventures Web Address: https://www.alchemycrew. ventures/
