CEO MONTHLY / MAY 2025 7 The man at the helm of Parcels Mart, a global shipping company offering convenient and costeffective logistics solutions for businesses right across Africa, is Dr Joe Enobong, a transformational CEO and logistics innovator committed to both driving revenue and enhancing the sustainability of his organisation. Leveraging two decades of experience working for some of the world’s leading companies prior to becoming CEO of Parcels Mart, Joe’s unmatched skill in this field has resulted in him being named as the Most Influential CEO 2025 – Logistics & Shipping (Nigeria). Founded in 2023 by Dr Joe Enobong, Parcels Mart is distinguished in part due to a transparent pricing model, specialized shipping models, large cargo handling and the cost savings its services bring about. This reflects the personalised customer service that is then delivered to its global customer base, which currently spans in excess of 1000 paying customers in more than 2,200 cities. Having already made approximately 10,000 deliveries and with an additional 15,000+ shipments booked in; it is clear this approach is more than paying off for this ever-expanding company headquartered in Nigeria. Be it the dedicated agents on-hand to provide support with all customer shipping needs, the doorstep delivery service, or the real-time tracking capabilities made possible thanks to its integrated tracking tool, there are many reasons why these customers choose Parcels Mart. Its excellence is then continuously refined thanks to a quality team, with these divisions united under the leadership of Dr Joe Enobong, a knowledgeable professional boasting a high track record of international sales and leadership success. Joe began his professional career more than 15 years ago at Samsung Electronics, serving as one of the company’s coveted retail sales managers. From executing robust sales strategies to generating customers in new territories, Joe’s two years with the brand paved the way for the successful career in logistics that would follow shortly after. Departing Samsung on excellent terms in 2011, Joe moved to UPS as an account manager, a role that saw him contribute to the account management and business growth strategies of the organisation. During his time at UPS, Joe also won the 2012 Export Growth Accelerator of the Year Award and successfully maintained almost 300 accounts, all whilst monitoring client performance to an impeccable standard. Many of the solutions Joe designed even generated immediate return on investment for the company, in addition to playing an integral role in forming the longer-term strategy of its operations right across the Africa region. Although still incredibly impressive, these accomplishments pale in comparison to what Joe achieved during his eight years with DHL, a tenure that saw him enter the company in a sales business development role before working his way up to sales manager, with duties including managing Sub-Saharan Africa’s best sales teams. Boosting acquisition levels by more than 100% in just one year, Joe was even nominated for induction into the DHL International Hall of Fame as a result of his stellar work. Given the strength of his resume, Joe was the perfect person to take Parcels Mart to lofty new heights when it went began its search for a new CEO in 2023. In the two years since securing the role, Joe has more than lived up to his name, scaling company operations to encompass hundreds of new countries and territories, all whilst offering clients up to a 50% reduction on the prices charged by other suppliers thanks to his transparent pricing strategy. On the back of this, Joe is today immensely proud to be recognised as a thought leader in the field of logistics and supply chain management, having successfully pivoted to design and then implement more personalised logistics solutions for a smaller and more niche cross-border shipping service provider. A host of new skills have also been developed by this CEO on his journey, and he today boasts of his talents in such areas as strategic leadership, sustainability, and even the application of artificial intelligence (AI). In fact, when it comes to AI, Joe’s knowledge of this emerging technology was significantly improved through his completion of the Business of Artificial Intelligence programme at the worldrenowned London Business School. Completing the course a few months prior to AI exploding onto the mainstream with ChatGPT, Joe’s understanding of both AI and ML models is already proving invaluable in Parcels Mart’s planned expansion, as well as helping it to strategically navigate the challenges inherent in this industry. This course is just one element of Joe’s comprehensive education, which extends to include an international business programme completed at Harvard Business School, a PhD in advanced and clinical biochemistry from the University of Calabar, and both a master’s and a bachelor’s from the same institution in the same field. Although his studies do not directly align with his career, they nevertheless demonstrate Joe’s ability to focus on the task at hand and execute work to a high standard – two cornerstones of his leadership style. Beyond focus and execution, Joe strives to nurture collaboration and innovation at every turn, well aware of the importance of cultivating a working environment where every member of a team feels empowered to speak up and to act. With Parcels Mart continuing to grow – something seen through the three offices it today has in Nigeria and partnered warehouses across over 58 countries – this dual commitment becomes increasingly important as the company looks ahead. For the next 12 months, Parcels Mart is working towards the overarching vision of going well beyond deliveries, instead striving to redefine the logistics experience for its customers. It is doing this in a number of ways, including integrating some of the cutting-edge technology Joe learnt about in his AI course, doubling down on its sustainability efforts, as well as expanding its presence to reach new markets around the world. Finally, shedding more light on the next steps in his own career, Joe tells us of his plans to carry on developing and evolving, growing both personally and professionally in the process. Thus, with his path forwards set to be defined by a rigorous adherence to the guiding pillars of learning, mentorship, and community impact, Joe is seeking to not only advance his career and skills, but also to inspire others to do the same in the process. A fearless and committed leader, Dr Joe Enobong has consistently proven himself to be the right man for the job since joining international shipping solutions company Parcels Mart as its CEO in 2023. As a result of the sense of confidence that stems from having Joe at the helm, this beacon of excellence in Nigeria’s shipping and logistics scene has an incredibly bright future ahead of it.
