Issue 4 2023

CEO MONTHLY / ISSUE 4 2023 28 nspired by Plato’s mantra “those who tell stories rule the world”, Tuesday Media helps its clients tell powerful stories that achieve their goals, offering PR and media relations, content marketing, organic and paid social media, and digital PR. As CEO and Founder, Sophie Wilson is responsible for ensuring that the brand lives up to its reputation – and that it provides its clients with the high-quality work they have come to expect from brand Tuesday. “I oversee client relationships, lead strategically on client accounts and am responsible for winning new business,” Sophie elaborates. “I lead the overall vision and strategic direction of the agency, in partnership with my business mentor. Our mission is to tell the stories of positive changemakers in Liverpool and beyond!” The firm’s core values are plentiful, revolving around providing a personal and bespoke service to clients, having a positive outlook, and being passionate about both its clients and their work. “Our business model has changed since we first set out, but our values haven’t,” Sophie continues. “When we started, we pioneered the ‘networked agency’ model, empowering top freelance talent to work remotely, on clientspecific projects. Post-pandemic we have established a new base in the North West and evolved away from our previous model to focus on building and growing our team.” With a varied client base of ‘positive change makers’ who are making a difference by solving some of society’s big challenges with their products and services, Tuesday Media’s USP is how it puts storytelling at the heart of everything it does. Working with values-aligned clients who want to go on a journey to understand their purpose, or their ‘why’, and articulate it, the company’s trademarked Storybuilding Workshop is the first step to elicit and articulate this. “Now, more than ever, brands need to be able to engage with this question,” says Sophie. “We know that our clients find so much value in our approach - having facilitated workshops where tears have been shed and ‘light bulb moments’ attained as clients get closer to uncovering their reason for being.” Sophie describes her leadership style as a mixture between ‘participative’ and ‘authoritative’ due to her striving to build trust with her colleagues by empowering A Story to Tell Launched in January 2018, Tuesday Media is a story-led PR, marketing, and communications agency. Capably run by Sophie Wilson, we find out more as she is recognised in the Most Influential CEO Awards. them, and because she also aims to provide overall direction and give her team guidance, feedback, and motivation. She is also quick to sing the praises of her loyal and dedicated employee base, seeing them as critical to the company and its overall success, not just now, but also in the future. “They live and breathe our company values, carry out client work to the high standards we set for ourselves and are real-world brand advocates,” she enthuses. “I would describe our culture as hard working and focused, but outwardlooking and positive. We get involved with our local business community and enjoy working out of a buzzy co-workspace where we collaborate with other creatives.” But it hasn’t always been plain sailing for Sophie, and she tells us that she too has experienced periods of ‘leadership loneliness’, particularly after she spent many months convalescing from long Covid and from having to work remotely throughout the pandemic. However, always with a positive outlook and approach, Sophie took proactive steps and addressed her circumstances by investing in a business mentor and establishing a positive network of fellow business owners in Liverpool. Now, post-pandemic, there is another very real challenge which Sophie and the team are facing. “We have always won business based on our reputation,” she continues. “However, with the cost-of-living crisis, we are now focusing on ensuring we have enough clients who are willing to invest in a long term journey with us.” Whilst the economic crisis is universal, not industry specific, Sophie has noticed that it is having a knock on effect, with annual recurring revenue slowly falling away as small business owners ditch PR and marketing in an attempt to cut back on their spending. “It is important to keep our agency financially healthy, but sadly an agency on retainer can often be the thing to go when businesses are wanting to pull back,” she says. “I feel that this is short sighted – during a recession it is those who take bold decisions and invest in themselves that will win.” This year, Tuesday Media sees its fifth anniversary year and the firm is celebrating with the release of its podcast, People of the ‘Pool, on all major podcast platforms. It is also planning to roll out a new website and to smash its coverage numbers from 2022: 135 pieces of coverage with an audience reach of 1.68billion! However, another reason for the firm to celebrate is down to Sophie herself, who recently gained recognition in the 2023 Most Influential CEO Awards and was named Most Influential PR Agency CEO 2023 – UK. For the future, Sophie has big plans for further growth. She says, “For the next decade, I want to build Tuesday Media up as a visible, exciting, boutique storytelling agency. I want to continue to make great work for great people and enjoy coming to work every day.” Feb23608 I Contact: Sophie Wilson Company: Tuesday Media Web Address: www.tuesday-media.com
