CEO Monthly Issue 2 2019

CEO MONTHLY / ISSUE 2 2019 5 , Altair Semiconductor, a leading provider of cellular IoT chipsets, announced today that its Cellular IoT chip- set – ALT1250, is now featured in more than 10 modules, with tens of design wins in IoT applications such as smart meters, vehicle telematics, wearables and track- ers. Moreover, the company sees significant growth in its IoT chip- set shipment volume, expecting to ship millions of units through- out 2019. “We have refined our cellular IoT chipset – the ALT1250 – to an- swer all the needs for low power IoT devices, including immedi- ate availability for designing and launching IoT devices in the mar- ket,” said Oded Melamed, CEO of Altair. “Our proven, industry-lead- ing combination of low power consumption, small size and se- curity features adds up to a smart solution for manufacturers who are ready to deploy IoT products today.” In 2018, Altair signed new part- nerships focused on simplifying the commercialization of cellular IoT devices. This will serve as a catalyst for significant market growth in 2019 and beyond. The company integrated a SIM within its chipsets – a key fea- ture for IoT applications – with Giesecke+Devrient (G+D). With Ethertronics, the company inte- grated a small antenna, which enables key applications, such as wearables, smart meters and trackers. A new tracking and po- sitioning capability embedded in the chipset was implemented with HERE Technologies. These partnerships and more, provide a level of integration that make the ALT1250 a complete IoT solution. The company also added signifi- cant security capabilities into the chipset, and further extended its industry-low power consumption. “Our highly integrated ALT1250 makes device designers’ lives much easier, in terms of effort expended, time-to-market, ex- pertise needed and overall cost of offering IoT solutions today,” added Melamed. “In addition, the ALT1250’s OneSKU™ technolo- gy means the chipset is available globally on all frequency bands, including in advanced markets such as Japan, Korea, Australia and the United States.” SCI (www.sci.ca) , a leading Canadian 3PL logistics compa- ny, has announced the launch of its new healthcare-dedicated facility in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
